Review of Pocono Rocks! – The Fun Is Guaranteed

Let me start by saying that we had an amazing time at Pocono Rocks! last week. It totally lived up to the expectations we had going in. “I mean, it’s a place full of bounce houses and slides, right? Our youngsters will simply fall in love with it.” And fall in love with it they did.

Pocono Rocks! has been open only since December 1st of last year, so everything inside is brand-new. When we came in we were greeted by this very large room that felt a bit like a refurbished warehouse. Pocono Rocks! Entrance It turns out that it is by design because the children can run anywhere they want to virtually without leaving your sight. You can comfortably sit at a table and enjoy the night with your friends and family and watch everyone from right there. No need to micromanage their fun.

I would expect the place to be deserted or nearly deserted on that cold Thursday on the first week of January. We arrived around 5:30pm and left around 7:30. Nonetheless there were 3 or 4 other groups/families over there during that time. And I could tell the entire place could comfortably sit 100 people or more.

What’s in It for the Children?

Pocono Rocks! is filled with all types of physically engaging features for your Bouncy House with Slidesteenagers all the way to the little ones. There are 3 large bounce houses spread throughout the facility. All the children in our group were able to play in them, even my 2 year old daughter. The bouncy houses have slides but access to them is done through [also bouncy] stairs inside. They were also all full of windows so you can see what your toddlers are doing inside most of the time.

The rock climbing walls are located on the back. They have different difficulty and inclination levels to suit the tastes of kids of every age, but can definitely 90 Degree Climbing Boulderentertain the more daring adults as well. My 5 year old son was able to climb one of the 90 degree walls almost all the way to the top. He wasn’t so successful with the harder, more inclined walls (which is great as we do not want to build up his climbing confidence too much at such early age :)). We could let everyone go up and down at will since the floor is covered with a wide and thick cushioned surface.

Pocono Rocks! also has the Ninja Warrior Course. That is a large gym-like structure with all sorts of obstacles the juniors Ninja Warrior Course at Pocono Rocks!have to overtake. That is excellent to challenge and develop all types of motor skills and I believe is mostly suitable for kids ages 4 and up. My 7 year old daughter enjoyed cruising through the hanging rings while my son liked the obstacle course the best. Oh, and just like everything else, the floor is completely cushioned and safe.

In fact they take safety very seriously at Pocono Rocks!. As you come in you first have to sign a Liability Waiver, but it does not mean you are on your own when it comes to safety from that point on. There are safety instructions posted on every toy and elsewhere. That way you can teach the young ones the limits of each attraction prior to letting them go loose. Darien (the “brainchild” of Pocono Rocks!) was also present almost all the time watching and guiding the kids, specially on the riskier features to ensure they would be all right.

Safety and Warning Signs at Pocono Rocks!

What about Me?

We ordered the food as soon as we came in. A waitress notified us soon later that everything was ready. We gathered our group of 4 adults and 7 kids to sing and eat birthday cake. There was enough space for all of us without having to climb on top of each other. It was also roomy enough that others didn’t have to share our mess and vice versa.

I have to contain myself not to go overboard talking about the food they serve Safety and Warning Signs at Pocono Rocks!at the “Little Rock Cafe”. Jodi (the chef) really takes the word “excellency” seriously. A typical place that appeals for kids usually does not deserve more than a brief comment on the subject, as anyone that has ever been to a fast-food joint with an internal playground can attest to. However, the quality of the refreshments served at Pocono Rocks! would probably deserve an entire post. But I will keep it short. Their pizza was fresh and rich, fries were very good and the burgers… well the burgers were simply off the chart! Jodi makes her own patties and they are juicy and delicious. If you are just a foodie and don’t care much about the rest, you’ll still be in heaven.

In conclusion, I’m glad they opened yet another fun place in the Poconos where you can come and enjoy with friends while the youngsters can also have lots of fun. At the end of the night our children were crying they lungs out. And not because they were hurt. They just wanted to keep on jumping, climbing, swinging and sliding but the boring grown ups were spoiling it for them by saying it was time to leave. They would have easily stayed over for a couple more hours and played to exhaustion if they could. And I would have honestly done the same if I could.
